Determining the Efficacy of a Submersible in Situ Fluorometric Device for Cyanobacteria Monitoring Coalesced with Total Suspended Solids Characteristic of Lowland Reservoirs

چکیده
The purpose of this study was to ascertain the effect of turbid water on a fluourometric device designed to detect phycocyanin and chlorophyll a in cyanobacteria cells in vivo. Cell densities corresponding to the Blue Green Algae Alert levels endorsed by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council and adopted by numerous water resource managers were coalesced with a range of total suspended solids at defined gradients characteristic of lowland freshwater ecosystems. The parameters of interest were phycocyanin and chlorophyll a. Microcystis aeruginosa was the experimental organism used to establish cell densities consistent with the three-stage alert level framework. We found phycocyanin to be an effective measure for detecting M. aeruginosa at concentrations prescribed within the cyanobacterial alert levels (Green, Amber and Red) in turbid waters up to 200 Nephelometric Turbidity Units. Assessment of temporal and spatial eutrophication index in a water dam reservoir
Eutrophication is considered as a serious problem in water reservoirs. Awareness about the eutrophic status of each reservoir could help in providing a better understanding of the problem in a global scale. The present study was conducted to assess temporal and spatial eutrophication index in a water reservoir (Sahand dam) in the northwest of Iran. Physico-chemical parametres that are effective...
متن کاملChemical quality of drinking water in Bandar Abbas
Introduction: Natural water normally consists of mineral compounds, suspended solids and dissolved gases. Some of these components are necessary for human health, but if more than allowable limits, they will endanger the human health. In this research, important clinical parameters in drinking water of Bandar Abbas were evaluated to compare with the national standards. Methods: In this descrip...

متن کاملDetermination of Original Gas Condensate Composition in The Case of Gas Coning
Obtaining samples that represent original fluid of reservoirs optimizes reservoirs management. The optimized management increases recovery. Also, selecting and performing proper Improved Oil Recovery (IOR) or Enhance Oil Recovery (EOR) programs depend on collecting representative samples. Achieving accurate compositions of original in-situ fluid prevents overdesigning surface facilities. Re...
